What is ECU remapping?
ECU remapping is the process of optimising your vehicle’s engine software to improve performance, drivability or fuel efficiency. Manufacturers restrict engines for global regulations, and remapping safely adjusts those settings to better suit real-world driving.
Is ECU remapping safe?
Yes, when carried out correctly. At Yorkshire Vehicle Tuning, all remaps are vehicle-specific and carried out within safe operating limits. We prioritise reliability, engine health and drivability over unrealistic gains.
Will a remap affect my insurance?
Yes, a remap is considered a vehicle modification and should be declared to your insurer. Most insurers are familiar with ECU remapping and will advise accordingly.
What is an AdBlue system?
The AdBlue system is an emissions control system fitted to many diesel vehicles. It does not improve performance and can often cause warning lights, limp mode or starting issues when faults occur.
What is an AdBlue delete?
An AdBlue delete removes AdBlue-related restrictions and fault triggers from the vehicle’s software. This can prevent recurring warning messages and starting issues caused by AdBlue system failures.
What is a DPF?
A Diesel Particulate Filter (DPF) is designed to reduce emissions by trapping soot. Vehicles used mainly for short journeys often suffer from blocked DPFs and failed regenerations.
What is DPF removal or delete?
DPF removal and delete disables the DPF system within the vehicle’s software, preventing regeneration issues, warning lights and limp mode caused by repeated DPF faults.
Are AdBlue and DPF delete services legal?
AdBlue delete and DPF removal services are intended for off-road, competition or export vehicles only. It is the customer’s responsibility to ensure their vehicle complies with UK road and emissions regulations.
Will my car pass an MOT after a DPF or AdBlue delete?
Vehicles modified in this way may not meet UK MOT emissions requirements. We are always happy to explain the implications before any work is carried out.
Do you work on petrol and diesel vehicles?
Yes. We work on both petrol and diesel vehicles, including cars and vans, as long as they are ECU-controlled.
